Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to the most common questions, covering everything from setup to advanced features, to help you get the most out of the app.

Why do I need SAPAPP?

The SAPAPP helps ensure compliance with new building regulations by tracking the progress of house builds and requiring photo evidence at each stage. This ensures that the house is built according to plan and avoids any expensive deconstruction if checks are needed later.

New regulations require photo evidence to be uploaded during the house-building process to verify compliance with Part L1A of the building regulations. This ensures accuracy and prevents future issues.

The SAPAPP simplifies compliance with new regulations by tracking photo uploads and generating reports. It eliminates the hassle of manually resizing or editing photos, ensuring all required documentation is ready without extra steps. These FAQs can help users understand how to use the SAPAPP and adhere to the new building regulations effectively.

Getting started

To get started simply go to the Apple Store or Google Play Store depending on your device and install the app. You can sign up and create an account in the app to get started.

You can sign up by downloading the app from the Android or iOS app store, opening the app, and clicking on the "Sign Up" link. You'll need to enter your personal and company details, then verify your email to complete the process.

From your dashboard, click the green 'Add Site' button. You’ll be asked to fill in details like the site name, address, and the number of plots you’ll be managing. Once complete, your site will appear in your site list.

Providing photographic evidence

To upload photos, click into your site from the dashboard, select the relevant plot, and choose the build stage you're capturing. You’ll see substages and instructions for photo uploads. Use the in-app camera to take and upload photos, as location data is tracked for compliance.

No, photos must be taken and uploaded live through the app. This ensures location data is captured, proving that the photo was taken on-site.

Yes, the SAPAPP ensures that the photographs you upload meet the compliance requirements of Part L of the building regulations. By using the app's live photo capture feature, location data is tracked to verify that the photos are taken on-site, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

From your site dashboard, click the calendar icon in the top-right corner to view stages that need photos. You can set target dates and assign alerts to yourself or other team members. The app will send notifications at the selected times.

The app has a reminder feature to alert you when it's time to upload photos. If you're not ready to upload, you can reschedule the alert to a later date.

The builder or contractor holds primary responsibility for capturing and organising photographs required for Part L photo evidence. This includes documenting all necessary stages of the build. The SAPAPP simplifies this process by clearly outlining the stages where photographic evidence is mandatory.

SAPAPP provides guidance on each required stage, detailing the types of photos needed, along with descriptions and example images for clarity. If you're unsure whether your photos meet the standards, you can easily generate and share a report directly from the app and then send to your assessor for feedback and further guidance.

The SAPAPP provides clear guidance on the necessary stages for photographic evidence, including detailed descriptions and example images to assist you in capturing the correct shots for Part L compliance.

No, progress photos during the build are not required. It is the contractor's responsibility to capture and organise the required evidence photos, ensuring all areas are documented by the end of the build. If you're unsure about any stage, the SAPAPP allows you to contact your assessor or generate a report for further guidance.

User Types

An admin user has full control over available sites, plots, users and photos as well as being the only team member that can produce reports.

A contributor is an invited team member that you can share sites with to allow them to upload photos. They do not have access to produce reports or make any admin changes.

Your subscription

Once you have installed the app and created an account - you can purchase one of the subscriptions directly in the app and get started straight away.

You can easily change or can cancel any subscription at any time directly within the app.

When your subscription is cancelled or expires, all your sites, plots, contributors, reports and photos will be removed as we can no longer cover the storage costs. These will NOT be reinstated if you renew at a later date - once they're gone, we can't recover them.

Working with your team

Go to the 'Manage Team' option from the main menu. Enter your team member's email address, and if they already have an account, an orange 'User Found' box will appear. You can then add them to your team.

If the user doesn’t exist, you’ll receive a prompt suggesting you ask them to download and sign up for the SAPAPP before adding them to your team.

Part L evidence reporting

Once all photos are uploaded for a plot, press the "Produce Part L Evidence Document" button from the plot window. This will generate a PDF report that can be downloaded or shared via email or messaging apps.

Yes, the report that SAPAPP generates is fully compliant with Part L of the building regulations.

The report uses your uploaded photos to organise into sections as per the requirements in the Building Regulations. Each photo is labelled, timestamped, and geotagged (with a link to Google Maps). See an example.
